Is Claude Max worth it? What the published numbers say

Data as of · Rows checked on vendor pages – · Page updated

Short answer (as of 31 Oct 2026): Claude Max 5x is $100 a month for 5x Claude Pro usage per 5-hour session, 5x the $20 Pro price. Max 20x is $200 for 20x, at 10x the price (PlanYield arithmetic). Per unit of published session usage, Max 5x costs the same as Pro and Max 20x half as much as Pro.

No weekly multiple is published, so whether Max pays off depends on which limit you hit: see the rules below. No moderated reports measure real yield.

Claude Code weekly limits settle at +25%: Announced 29 Aug 2026 (30 Aug SGT), effective 14 Sep 2026: the +50% Claude Code weekly-limit promotion (13 May to 13 Sep 2026) ended, and Anthropic kept part of it. Weekly limits in Claude Code are now 25% above the pre-promotion level on Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. Anthropic's follow-up post says this is a 17% cut from the promotion level (125 vs 150). Five-hour limits were not part of the promotion.

Weekly limits announced for Claude Pro and Max: Announced 28 Jul 2025 (29 Jul SGT) for 28 Aug 2025: weekly rate limits on top of the 5-hour limits for Claude Pro and Max, expected to affect under 5% of subscribers. On 29 Sep 2025 (30 Sep SGT), launching Sonnet 4.5, Anthropic said the weekly limits 'are rolling out now' and expected fewer than 2% of users to hit them.

The Max rows give their multiples per 5-hour session only; no weekly multiple is listed for either tier. Settings > Usage shows when your weekly limit resets (Anthropic help centre).

PlanYield arithmetic on the listed prices and on each vendor’s multiples, not measured usage. Multiples are published by the vendor unless the line says “reported”; a reported multiple comes from a vendor staff post or coverage, not the vendor’s own page. Each vendor states its multiples against its own base plan, so a per-1x figure from one vendor does not convert into another vendor’s.

If you…, then…: rules from the published numbers

Each rule uses only the published prices, multiples and limit text on the rows above; ratios and per-1x prices are PlanYield arithmetic.

What is not claimed

PlanYield has no moderated usage reports, so this page does not say how many hours or tasks Max gives in a real week. “Worth it” here means what the published numbers show, not a rating.

FAQ

Is Claude Max 5x really 5 times Claude Pro?

claude.com says Max 5x is “5x Pro per 5h session”, at $100 a month against Claude Pro’s $20. That is 5x the price for 5x the per-session usage (PlanYield arithmetic). No weekly multiple is listed.

Which Claude plan costs least per unit of published usage?

Max 20x: $10.00 a month per 1x Pro per 5-hour session, against $20.00 on Max 5x and $20.00 on Pro. That is PlanYield arithmetic on the published prices and multiples, not measured usage.

Does Claude Max have a weekly limit?

Yes. The Max rows record “5h window + weekly cap”. From the 14 Sep 2026 entry: Announced 29 Aug 2026 (30 Aug SGT), effective 14 Sep 2026: the +50% Claude Code weekly-limit promotion (13 May to 13 Sep 2026) ended, and Anthropic kept part of it. Weekly limits in Claude Code are now 25% above the pre-promotion level on Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans.

As of 31 Oct 2026: ChatGPT Pro 100 ($100), ChatGPT Pro 200 ($200), Cursor Super ($100), Cursor Ultra ($200), GitHub Copilot Max ($100), Devin Max ($200), Google AI Ultra $100 (Antigravity) ($99.99), Google AI Ultra $200 (Antigravity) ($199.99), Kiro Pro Max ($100), and Kiro Power ($200). Each row shows the date it was checked.
